Lisa Kerney: early life and education

Lisa Kerney was born Lisa Diaagne Gangel Kerney on July 8, 1981, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born under the birth sign of Cancer to her parents Barbara and Lou Gangel, who raised her in Leawood, KS. Although very little is known about her from her early years, she is of white ethnicity while her nationality is American.

Now coming to her academics, Lisa graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Overland Park, Kansas. She then joined Lynn University in Boca Raton with a minor in Broadcast Communications. While in school, she was the captain of the women’s basketball team, “The Pacific Tigers.” Her skills on the court even helped her get a scholarship for her education. While she showed her love for sports, she always knew that she would like to pursue a career in journalism and she couldn’t have been more right.

After graduating from college, Lisa joined Metro Sports in 2003 as an intern. It was her degree in broadcast communication that helped her get the job. However, her first official job came for Columbia Broadcasting System’s Button affiliate, “KXLF.” After a brief stint on the network, she landed a job as a sports anchor at WCBS-TV in New York.

Her next role was for KING-TV in Seattle from 2005 to 2010, where she was the weekend sportscaster. Kerney has left no stone unturned when she began working for the Major League Baseball Network. However, her biggest role to date came in 2014 when she joined ESPN. It was a great opportunity and all the hardships she had been through finally proved worth it. She has now received several awards for her excellent work in broadcasting.
